Description

Skyworks' Irvine, CA design center is a leading hub for RF acoustic filter innovation, developing advanced SAW and BAW technologies for next-generation wireless communications. As a Winter/Spring 2027 Co-Op, you will join a highly collaborative team of engineers and scientists working on the design, modeling, and optimization of state-of-the-art RF filters while gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading simulation, analysis, and design tools. Working alongside experienced mentors, you will contribute to both filter development and design automation initiatives, helping to improve engineering productivity through the automation of simulation workflows, data analysis, visualization, and reporting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply advanced RF and programming skills, collaborate with experts in acoustics and wireless systems, and make meaningful contributions to the development of cutting-edge filter technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize RF acoustic filters using SAW and BAW technologies.
• Develop Python-based tools to automate simulation, optimization, and reporting workflows.
• Improve design productivity through workflow automation and data-driven methodologies.
• Perform device-, circuit-, and system-level simulations to evaluate filter performance.
• Analyze simulation and measurement data to support design decisions and performance improvements.
• Present design results, technical findings, and project updates during team reviews.

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Available to work onsite in Irvine, CA, from January to June 2027.
• Knowledge of SAW/BAW resonators, acoustic filter technologies, and RF circuit fundamentals.
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, for engineering automation.
• Experience with RF design and simulation tools such as Keysight ADS.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience designing, modeling, or characterizing RF acoustic devices and filters.
• Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS.
• Experience with layout tools such as Cadence Virtuoso.
• Ability to develop standalone engineering tools, automation frameworks, or data-processing applications in Python.
• Understanding of cellular RF front-end architectures and wireless communication systems.
